Serves your Enterprise Needs with SQL Server

 

Team Pro now serves your enterprise needs with SQL Server support for just a fraction of the cost of other products. Just set up a new database and account on your SQL server and Team will upload your current database. From then on, Team runs with your tables from your SQL server.

Team Pro takes Team to a new level with:

  • compatibility with your existing databases and tools.

You can try Team Pro if you have downloaded Team version 98.5 or later. You will need Microsoft SQL,  Oracle, or MySQL server software.

 

Our database utility has been updated with a new interface and an 'SQL Setup' option for simple upgrades. The process is as follows:

  • Install Microsoft SQL Server ,
  • Create a Database for Team to use,
  • Run the Team Database Utility and fill in the database and login information, and
  • Press the Connect and Upload buttons to copy your database to the server.
  • Either set SQL as the active database or create a shortcut with "/SQL" parameter.

Team provides two database interfaces to MS-SQL, Oracle and MySQL databases. Before Team v2.3, BDE was used for all Team Pro databases. Team v2.3 adds the ability to use Microsoft's ADO interface provided in the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). MDAC is provided with current versions of Windows and is also available from Microsoft at: http://www.microsoft.com/data/.

 

ADO and BDE provide roughly equivalent performance. The primary advantage for ADO is it does not require any tuning for larger installations and reduces the number of connections to your back end server.

 

ADO is not provided with Team. Your version of Windows may require you to install the latest version of ADO by downloading the MDAC components from Microsoft.

 

Advantages of using ADO

  • uses the Microsoft ADO database interface,
  • maintains only one permanent connection for a Team user, where BDE uses three connections for a Team user,
  • causes no BDE resource issues,
  • requires no additional tuning - BDE may require changes for servers running Team-Web if you have TeamServices and Team-Web running on the same system, and
  • has similar performance to BDE.

Advantages of using BDE

  • installed by the Team software,
  • used in earlier versions of Team, and
  • requires no additional software to be installed on the client computers.

Team Products Supporting ADO/BDE Database Interfaces

  • Team Pro,
  • Team-Web running to an SQL database, and
  • WebEntry running to an SQL database.

Team 98.5 or later, even when registered, can run the trial version of Team Pro, so there is nothing new to download.  If you have Microsoft, Oracle or MySQL Server, you have everything you need to try Team Pro today.  If you do not have MS-SQL, Oracle or MySQL server, a trial version can be downloaded from the Microsoft, Oracle or MySQL websites. Detailed instructions on setting up Team with MS-SQL and Oracle server are included in the installation section of Team’s online help file.  Instructions for MySQL will be available shortly.
